Tales of the world episode 40 – Rosia Montana and the solitude of the modern political activist

During the past few weeks, Romania has been gripped by the fever of political protest due to an impending law, effectively meant to legalize the destruction of the environment and expropriation of citizens in its name. It is related to the exploitation of a gold mine in Transylvania, in Rosia Montana, by a Canadian corporation. Rarely have Romanians been so vocal and passionate about an issue, all the more so in a transnational manner. Solidarity protests were organised throughout Europe. Also in Geneva.

Here are a few thoughts that came to my mind while participating in the protest organised in Calvin’s city.
